DIGICEL ANNOUNCES NETWORK UPGRADE
SELECT CUSTOMERS WITH 2G DEVICES GIFTED WITH FREE HANDSETS THIS CHRISTMAS
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. November 10, 2023 – Digicel is making a significant upgrade to its network to align with the latest technology trends and provide its mobile customers with an enhanced experience. This upgrade will see the decommissioning of their legacy 2G network on March 31st, 2024, so that they can focus resources on more advanced technologies, including 3G, 4G, 4G LTE and LTE-A.
This strategic move is designed to provide customers with improved call quality and clarity, faster browsing, smoother connectivity, better video streaming and an overall superior user experience. Additionally, by upgrading from 2G, customers will be able to explore a wider range of mobile applications and services using the internet.
To ensure a seamless transition, Digicel encourages customers to upgrade their 2G SIM cards to 4G LTE compatible SIM cards, check their devices to ensure that they support at least the latest 3G technology, and upgrade their devices, as needed, to fully benefit from the enhanced network capabilities.
To help customers find out whether their SIMs are compatible, the company has created an LTE SIM checker on their website: https://www.digicelgroup.com/tt/en/network .
As part of Digicel’s commitment to assisting customers through the transition, the company’s Christmas campaign offers reduced prices and attractive offers on handsets for upgrades. Additionally, by process of random draw, select 2G customers will receive a free upgraded handset and discounts, ensuring a smooth and bright Christmas for everyone. The lucky customers will be notified via SMS. Customers are reminded that Digicel would never ask them to disclose personal information, transfer credit or send money to anyone to win a prize.
Digicel assures customers that more information and assistance for SIM card and device upgrades will be provided in the coming weeks. For immediate inquiries, the public is encouraged to contact Digicel’s Customer Care via live chat on their website or the My Digicel App.
"We appreciate our customers' understanding, patience, and continued trust in our services. This upgrade reaffirms our commitment to delivering the best solutions on Trinidad and Tobago's most reliable network," said Reyanne Sobers, General Manager of Consumer Mobile at Digicel.
Digicel looks forward to working closely with its valued business customers during this exciting network upgrade journey.
